Albanian festivals in America in 2026, as of 7 October: the year’s big outdoor festivals have all taken place. United FestivALB held its first edition at SIUH Community Park on Staten Island on May 16 and 17, Albanian Heritage Day at Yankee Stadium was on May 19, Byrek Fest (Busse Woods, near Chicago) and Albanian Heritage Day at Kensico Dam (Valhalla, NY) were both on June 7, the Albanian Roots Parade marched in Manhattan on June 20, the first Albanian festival in the Albany area was held in Colonie on July 18, and the Albanian Heritage Festival in Quincy, Massachusetts took place at Kilroy Square on Sunday, October 4.

Still to come in 2026: Albanian Independence Day (Festa e Flamurit) on Saturday, November 28, and the celebrations held on and around it. Organisers have already announced events such as a flag raising at Riley Plaza in Salem, Massachusetts on November 25, an Independence Day dinner and concert in Las Vegas the same evening, and the 7:00 pm Festa e Flamurit at St. Paul’s Albanian Catholic Church in Rochester Hills, Michigan, on November 28. Our Albanian Independence Day 2026 guide lists the celebrations city by city.

Each date below was checked against the organiser’s own page, a public agency or local news, linked inline and in the Sources list. No organiser had announced 2027 dates when we checked; see where each one announces them.

ALB Connection keeps a free community events calendar of Albanian events in the United States, with venue addresses, organiser details and ticket links where available.

What counts as an Albanian festival in America

Albanian American events fall into three broad kinds, and it helps to know which one you are looking at before you plan a trip.

Cultural festivals are day-long or weekend gatherings with music, dance, food and family activities: United FestivALB, Byrek Fest, the Kensico Dam Albanian Heritage Day and the new festivals in Colonie, NY and Franklin, Wisconsin. Organisers rarely publish attendance; one exception is the Albanian American Community of Illinois, which reported “more than 800 people” at Byrek Fest 2025.

Heritage nights with American institutions are built around a regular event. At Albanian Heritage Day at Yankee Stadium, each ticket bought through Albanian Roots included a limited-edition Yankees hat with the Albanian flag, and the Detroit Tigers listed “Albanian Heritage” on their 2026 promotions schedule for the July 8 game at Comerica Park. More on these in our guide to Albanian Heritage Day in America.

Religious and commemorative gatherings centre on November 28 (Independence Day, also called Flag Day, Festa e Flamurit) and on religious holidays. Churches, mosques and associations host them in their own halls and at civic sites; in 2025 the Albanian flag was raised in front of Boston City Hall on November 28.

Albanian festivals in New York City and the tri-state area

New York hosted four Albanian events between mid-May and late June 2026. For Census figures on where Albanian Americans live, see our page on the Albanian population in the US by state and city.

United FestivALB, Staten Island (May 16–17, 2026)

United FestivALB held its first edition on May 16 and 17, 2026 at SIUH Community Park, 75 Richmond Terrace, Staten Island, home of the Staten Island FerryHawks. Gates ran from noon to midnight on the Saturday and from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm on the Sunday. Its stated aim is to “unite Albanian artists, audiences, and allies” around Albanian music and culture.

Tickets were sold for single days or as a weekend pass, as general admission or VIP. The festival was open to all ages, but every child needed a ticket and minors had to be with a parent or guardian. Outside food was not allowed, on-site vendors offered Albanian, Italian and American food, and the festival was fully cashless.

After the weekend the organisers thanked supporters for “our very first year”. No 2027 date was on the festival’s site when we checked. For Albanian-owned places to eat on the island, see Albanian businesses in Staten Island.

Albanian Heritage Day at Yankee Stadium (May 19, 2026)

Albanian Roots organised an Albanian Heritage Day block for the Yankees’ home game against the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, first pitch 7:05 pm. Each ticket bought through the organiser included a limited-edition Yankees hat with the Albanian flag. The Yankees won 5–4.

If the event returns in 2027, Albanian Roots announces it through its own channels. Our guide to Albanian restaurants in the Bronx covers places to eat in the borough.

Albanian Roots Parade, Manhattan (June 20, 2026)

The Albanian Roots Parade took place in Manhattan on Saturday, June 20, 2026. The next day, Koha Jonë reported that thousands of Albanians took part, with red-and-black flags, traditional dress and music. The organiser, Albanian Roots, opens registration for marching groups on its website.

Albanian Heritage Day at Kensico Dam, Valhalla (June 7, 2026)

Westchester County Parks and Our Lady of Shkodra Church in Hartsdale held Albanian Heritage Day at Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla on Sunday, June 7, 2026, from noon to 6:00 pm. Admission and parking were free. The county listed Albanian food, dancing and soccer, with performances by Vjollca Luka, Gjovani Gjonaj, Alfred Popaj, DJ Geni Hotaj, the Rozafati Group, the Albanian School of Our Lady of Shkodra Parish, the Albanian American Cultural Center Struga and Albanian Roots.

Kensico Dam Plaza is at the north end of the Bronx River Parkway. The festival runs rain or shine; seating is on the lawn, so bring blankets or folding chairs, and coolers are not allowed.

Chicago, Michigan and the Midwest

In the Midwest, the Albanian American Community of Illinois (AACI) runs Byrek Fest near Chicago, Milwaukee held its first Albanian Fest in 2026, and Michigan’s confirmed 2026 dates are a Tigers heritage night and November 28 celebrations.

Byrek Fest 2026, Chicago area (June 7, 2026)

Byrek Fest 2026 took place on Sunday, June 7, from 11:00 am at Busse Woods in Elk Grove Township, northwest of Chicago. AACI sold tickets through Givebutter, where the event was marked sold out.

The day is built around byrek, the layered filled pie (see byrek vs börek vs burek). Albania’s public broadcaster RTSH reported in June 2025 that the festival was then in its second year, with hundreds taking part and bringing byrek made to recipes from all over Albania, which makes 2026 the third edition. AACI reported more than 800 people at Byrek Fest 2025.

Albanian Fest Milwaukee, Franklin, Wisconsin (June 14, 2026)

The Gurra Foundation held Albanian Fest MKE in the Milwaukee area on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at Croatian Park in Franklin, Wisconsin (details on our event listing). The organiser’s site now shows a thank-you page for the 2026 festival.

Albanian festival 2026 in Michigan

We found no large outdoor Albanian festival in Michigan with a 2026 date on an organiser’s page when we checked on 1 October 2026. Metro Detroit has hosted one before: WXYZ reported the second annual Albanian America Festival at Hart Plaza, Detroit, on June 2 to 4, 2017. The Michigan dates we could confirm for 2026:

For Albanian-owned restaurants and shops in the state, see Albanian businesses in Michigan.

Boston and New England

Greater Boston’s 2026 Albanian calendar ran from a June harbour cruise to the October 4 festival in Quincy; what remains is Independence Day, starting with a flag raising in Salem on November 25.

Albanian Heritage Festival, Quincy (October 4, 2026)

The Fan Noli Cultural Center held its Albanian Heritage Festival on Sunday, October 4, 2026, from noon to 6:00 pm at Kilroy Square, 25 Cottage Avenue, Quincy, a new location for the festival, with free entry. Gazeta Dielli reported that the festival was organised by the Fan S. Noli Library & Cultural Center with Shoqata “Labëria” USA, that the Valle Tona, St. George Cathedral and CT dance groups performed, and that representatives of the City of Quincy attended. The organiser’s festival page announced that the day would honour the clarinettist Laver Bariu and present the Fan S. Noli Legacy Award to Dhimitraq Demiri, founder of Valle Tona. No 2027 date had been posted when we checked on 7 October; see also our event listing. Kilroy Square has hosted Albanian festivals before; The Patriot Ledger announced the first Greater Boston Albanian Festival there for Sunday, October 2, 2022.

Albanian Annual Boat Party (June 13, 2026)

The Massachusetts Albanian American Society held its Albanian Annual Boat Party 2026 on Saturday, June 13, from 7:00 pm, sailing from 60 Rowes Wharf on Boston Harbor. Online tickets were $70 for adults and $35 for children under 12, with lower prices for members and higher prices for cash at the dock.

Festa e Flamurit in Boston (November 28)

On November 28, 2025, the Albanian flag was raised beside the US flag in front of Boston City Hall, BalkanWeb reported. For 2026, the Massachusetts Albanian American Society lists Albanian Independence Day for November on its website, without a date or place yet, and the City of Salem has scheduled an Albanian Independence Day flag raising at Riley Plaza, 1-21 Margin Street, Salem, on Wednesday, November 25, from noon to 1:00 pm. St. George Albanian Orthodox Cathedral is at 523 East Broadway, South Boston.

Upstate New York and the new festival wave

The Albany-area festival below described itself as the first of its kind in the region.

Albanian Festival, Albany area (July 18, 2026)

The first Albanian Festival in the Capital Region took place on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Cook Park Pavilion and Amphitheater on Shambrook Parkway in Colonie. The host, Noteworthy Resources of Albany, is a grassroots nonprofit, and it linked the festival to mental-health awareness and community well-being. Entry was free, with registration on Eventbrite, where the event appears as the Albanian Heritage Festival.

The organiser listed traditional food, music, dance, art, storytelling and Albanian-owned businesses, with DJ Alban, Flamur Bicaku and Benard Millja performing. No 2027 date had been posted when we checked.

Religious festivals and commemorations

Parishes and mosques run their own calendars, and these are often the best place to find November 28 events.

St. Paul’s Albanian Catholic Church in Rochester Hills, Michigan, publishes an events list; its autumn 2026 list includes Festa e Flamurit on November 28 at 7:00 pm and a St. Nicholas party on December 5. St. George Albanian Orthodox Cathedral in South Boston and the Albanian Islamic Center in Harper Woods, Michigan, also post their own events.

If you are not a member, check the parish or centre’s page, or call ahead, before attending.

How to plan your visit

If you are travelling for an Albanian festival, a few practical points from the 2026 events:

  • Buy ticketed events early. Byrek Fest 2026 was marked sold out on its ticket page, and United FestivALB tickets were non-refundable and non-transferable.
  • Check how to pay. United FestivALB 2026 was fully cashless, while the Boston boat party charged more for tickets paid in cash at the dock.
  • Check the rules on food and seating. Kensico Dam asks visitors to bring blankets or folding chairs and does not allow coolers; United FestivALB did not allow outside food.
  • Check again the week before. The ALB Connection events calendar and each organiser’s page carry changes.
  • Wear red and black if you like. They are the colours of the Albanian flag.

To eat at Albanian-owned restaurants near a festival, search the ALB Connection directory by city.

What to expect at an Albanian festival

Programmes differ, but the 2026 events we checked shared a few things.

Food. The organisers listed Albanian food; typical dishes include byrek (filled layered pie), qofte (meatballs), tavë kosi (lamb baked with yogurt) and grilled meats, with sweets such as baklava and sheqerpare. Our guide to Albanian food explains the dishes.

Music and dance. The line-ups mixed folk groups and dance schools with singers and DJs (the Kensico Dam and Colonie programmes are examples). Circle dances (valle) are a familiar part of Albanian celebrations; see our guide to Albanian traditional dance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any Albanian festivals left in 2026?

The outdoor festivals are over: the last on our 2026 calendar, the Fan Noli Cultural Center’s Albanian Heritage Festival at Kilroy Square in Quincy, Massachusetts, took place on Sunday, October 4, 2026. What remains is Albanian Independence Day (Festa e Flamurit) on Saturday, November 28, with celebrations on and around that date, including a flag raising in Salem, Massachusetts on November 25 and Festa e Flamurit at St. Paul’s Albanian Catholic Church in Rochester Hills, Michigan, at 7:00 pm on November 28. Our Albanian Independence Day guide lists the 2026 celebrations by city.

Is there an Albanian festival in Michigan in 2026?

No large outdoor Albanian festival in Michigan had a published 2026 date when we checked on 1 October 2026. Confirmed Michigan dates were the Detroit Tigers’ Albanian Heritage game on July 8 (past) and Festa e Flamurit in Rochester Hills on November 28 (upcoming).

When was the Albanian festival in NYC in 2026?

The main New York events of 2026 are over: United FestivALB on Staten Island (May 16–17), Albanian Heritage Day at Yankee Stadium (May 19), Albanian Heritage Day at Kensico Dam in Westchester (June 7) and the Albanian Roots Parade in Manhattan (June 20). No 2027 dates had been announced.

What is United FestivALB?

United FestivALB is a two-day Albanian music and culture festival on Staten Island. Its first edition was held on May 16 and 17, 2026 at SIUH Community Park, with single-day and weekend tickets.

What is the biggest Albanian festival in America?

There is no reliable ranking: most organisers do not publish attendance. The one recent figure we found is AACI’s report of more than 800 people at Byrek Fest 2025.

When was Albanian Heritage Day at Yankee Stadium in 2026?

Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at the Yankees’ 7:05 pm game against the Toronto Blue Jays. Tickets bought through Albanian Roots included a limited-edition Yankees hat with the Albanian flag.

Where was Byrek Fest 2026?

At Busse Woods in Elk Grove Township, Illinois, on Sunday, June 7, 2026, from 11:00 am, hosted by the Albanian American Community of Illinois. Its ticket page marked it sold out.

Are Albanian festivals family-friendly?

The 2026 festivals we checked admitted children: Kensico Dam’s Albanian Heritage Day was free, the Albany festival was billed as family-friendly, and United FestivALB was open to all ages, though every child needed a ticket and minors had to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

When is Albanian Independence Day?

November 28. It marks the day in 1912 when Ismail Qemali raised the Albanian flag in Vlorë and Albania was proclaimed independent from the Ottoman Empire. It is also called Flag Day (Festa e Flamurit). Find events in our Festa e Flamurit calendar.

How do I find Albanian restaurants near a festival?

Use the ALB Connection business directory, which lists Albanian-owned restaurants, bakeries, butcher shops and grocery stores by city, or our city guides such as Albanian restaurants in the Bronx.

Do I need to speak Albanian to attend?

No. The festivals on this page are public events, and the Albany organiser, for one, invites visitors whether they are Albanian, part of the Balkan diaspora “or simply curious to learn more”.

How to find 2027 dates

No organiser on this page had announced a 2027 date by 1 October 2026, and we do not guess them. Each event announces its own dates:

We add new dates to the ALB Connection community events calendar once organisers publish them. If you organise an Albanian festival or community event, submit it through the events form so it can be added to the calendar.
