The best-known Albanian boxers are Robin Krasniqi, the Kosovo-born light heavyweight who won the IBO and interim WBA titles in Magdeburg in October 2020 (WBA); Jurgen Uldedaj from Lezhë, who won the vacant IBO cruiserweight title at London’s O2 Arena on 25 October 2025 (3 Kings Boxing) and was still the champion in October 2026 (Monitor); and Luan Krasniqi, the Kosovo-born heavyweight who won Olympic bronze for Germany at Atlanta 1996 (Olympedia) and later fought for the WBO world heavyweight title. Elvir Muriqi, Florian Marku and Kristian Prenga, who knocked Anthony Joshua down twice before losing in July 2026 (Sky Sports), are the other names fans ask about most.
Several of these fighters built their careers in the countries where they or their families settled: the two Krasniqis in Germany, Muriqi and Prenga in the United States. Below we describe each boxer’s heritage the way their own interviews and coverage describe it, and give records and status as published up to October 2026. One correction to a common mix-up: “Haxhi Krasniqi” is not a separate boxer; the world title fights often listed under that name were Robin Krasniqi’s (see below).
TLDR
- Robin Krasniqi became the first world champion born in Kosovo when he stopped Dominic Bösel for the IBO and interim WBA light heavyweight titles on 10 October 2020
- Jurgen Uldedaj from Lezhë won the vacant IBO cruiserweight title at London’s O2 Arena on 25 October 2025, defended it in May 2026 and is due to defend it in Tirana on 23 October 2026
- Luan Krasniqi won heavyweight bronze for Germany at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and challenged Lamon Brewster for the WBO heavyweight title in 2005
- Elvir Muriqi lost a majority decision to Antonio Tarver for the vacant IBO light heavyweight title in Hartford, Connecticut, in June 2007
- Robin Krasniqi also challenged Nathan Cleverly (WBO, 2013) and Jürgen Brähmer (WBA, 2015) for world titles
- Albanian boxers have shared the ring with Tyson Fury (Sefer Seferi, 2018) and Anthony Joshua (Kristian Prenga, 2026)

Haxhi Krasniqi: Not a Separate Boxer
Some lists describe a “Haxhi Krasniqi” who fought Nathan Cleverly in 2013 and Jürgen Brähmer in 2015 as a different boxer from Robin Krasniqi. They are the same man: the WBO’s result report dhe Sky Sports both name Robin Krasniqi as the challenger in those fights, and his given name is Haxhi Krasniqi (BoxerList). If you are searching for Haxhi Krasniqi the boxer, his career is covered in the Robin Krasniqi section above.

The most recent chapter was written on 25 October 2025 at London’s O2 Arena, when Jurgen Uldedaj from Lezhë beat Cameroon’s Rolly Lambert Fogoum by unanimous decision for the vacant IBO cruiserweight title (3 Kings Boxing). As Transmetuesi publik i Shqipërisë, RTSH, raportoi..., it was the first professional world title won by an Albanian athlete, meaning a boxer from Albania itself; Kosovo-born Robin Krasniqi had won IBO and interim WBA belts for Germany in 2020.
Uldedaj made his first defence on 30 May 2026 at Wembley Arena, outpointing Britain’s Austine Nnamdi, a late replacement for Muhsin Cason, over 12 rounds to move to 22 wins and 1 loss (Balkanweb). His second defence is set for 23 October 2026 at the Feti Borova Olympic Park in Tirana against Australia’s Blake Caparello, a former IBO light heavyweight champion (Monitor).
