Overview
Welcome to Sourdough Ida, where we provide you with nutrient-dense alternatives to conventional, industrial baked goods. Our sourdough journey began within our home kitchen with the question of how we could make healthier bread for our family, as our children love to eat bread. Industrial bread causes many gastrointestinal disturbances and contains a lot of unnecessary ingredients, so we had to find an alternative. With my husband’s culinary background and my medical background, we were able to combine his skills in the kitchen with my knowledge of medicine to master the art of sourdough, granting us with the opportunity to take control of our health and feed those around us with a healthy and nostalgic version of bread.
In our cozy bakery, you will taste authenticity and find nourishing substitutes for all of your favorite baked goods, ranging from classic sourdough bread to a delicious, vegan, chocolate orange cake that will only leave you wanting another slice. All of our products are handmade and baked fresh daily. We use organic, seasonal, and local ingredients whenever possible. All products are sourdough based, fermented for a minimum of 24 hours using our own wild sourdough starter, and baked in a stone oven. Our products accommodate people with all dietary restrictions including vegetarians, vegans, as well as those with allergies. They all begin with the simple base of wild sourdough starter and from there are built up with the addition of simple, whole, and organic ingredients.
Our vision at Sourdough Ida is to create a world where everyone has access to healthy and sustainable baked goods. We believe that good food can heal the body, mind, and soul, and we are committed to making that a reality for everyone.
